Buck
Herron is an excellent example of what a naturally
talented & accomplished artist can do even
without a formal art background.
He began by sketching combat scenes in Vietnam,
but once home he put his art aside to raise a
family.
In 1989 he resumed his art
by woodcarving, winning several
awards for
"Dear John" and other sculptures.
About
10 years ago he began creating bronze
sculptures, a medium he especially enjoys.
A majority of his bronzes are commissioned pieces.
One
such piece, a life-size
bronze of Dr. Dan Brannin
(at
left),
stands at the Tulsa Health Department. Another
life size sculpture of runner Michael Houghton
will soon be unveiled along River
Parks between 31st and 41st.
